Determining Rear Bag & Spacing:
When determining which rear bag is best for your set up, the first thing we usually ask is, if your butt stock is flat or rounded on the bottom.
If the bottom is flat, measure the width at the bottom of your flat stock where it will rest between the ears, this is the spacing you will want to get between the ears of your rear bag as most customers want the bottom of the stock to sit down in between the ears, resting on the flat (stitching) between the ears. If you prefer it resting a bit above the spacing you would want to get a slightly more narrow spacing than what your stock bottom measures.
If the bottom of your stock is rounded, you will want a more narrow spacing than what your stock measures on the bottom so the stock rests more up on the ears of the rear bag.
Ear height option is somewhat a personal preference and depends on how much friction you want on the gun. The tall ears will grab the stock more and give more left to right support, the bunny ears provide the least resistance, but does not allow much left to right movement.
Ear material options are Leather, Cordura, Slick silver, & Slick leather.
Leather is a great option. If you’re looking for something that offers a smoother recoil, some customers will apply talcum powder to the leather or will go for cordura. Customers normally apply a teflon spray to the cordura to make it really slick, but the slick silver or slick leather are the most popular as they are already smooth without having to apply anything to the material, the difference between the two is the slick silver is glued and sewn onto our leather and we always wanted something that was one piece of material between the ears, so we worked with our leather manufacturer and we came out with the slick leather. You get the durability of the leather and the smoothness of the silver in one piece.
We hope this information helps.
